Itinerary

Your Muslim guide meets your family at Casablanca airport. Our first visit is the Hassan II Mosque, timed for prayer, before we continue to Rabat for the night.

The opening day gives your family a first connection with Morocco and a place to settle before tomorrow's journey inland.

Overnight: Rabat

We spend the morning in Rabat, with your guide introducing the Moroccan part of the story before we continue towards Fes.

On the way we stop in Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, the town around the resting place of Idris I. Your guide introduces his place in Morocco's history as we begin to connect the places on our route.

By evening we arrive in Fes. We stay here for two nights, so tomorrow begins in the medina without another hotel move.

Overnight: Fes

Today we enter the old medina of Fes with your guide. We visit the tanneries and time our visit to Al-Qarawiyyin for prayer, bringing the city's working life and religious life into the same morning.

We also arrange a visit to the private studio of a fabric painter we know personally. The studio is normally closed to the public. This personal connection opens another door into the medina alongside the places on its main heritage route.

The afternoon is free to rest.

Optional VIP experience: a fitting at a haute-couture jellaba atelier. Your measurements are taken in Fes; the atelier makes your jellaba over the following one to three weeks, depending on its workload, and ships it home when finished.

Overnight: Fes

Before leaving Fes, we visit the tomb of Boabdil, the last king of Granada. Here begins a connection your family will carry across the Strait: his resting place in Morocco, then the Alhambra in Spain.

We continue north to Chefchaouen. In the evening, the Raisouni family welcomes us for a Moroccan cooking workshop centred on the tagine.

Cooking together gives your family time with the people who live here. It is one of the personal encounters at the heart of this journey, arranged through people we know.

Overnight: Chefchaouen

The morning is for Chefchaouen. We walk its blue streets at your family's pace, with time to take in the town after last night's cooking workshop.

Later we continue to Tangier and spend the afternoon in the city. This is our final night in Morocco, before tomorrow's ferry across the Strait into Al-Andalus.

Overnight: Tangier

We take the morning ferry from Tangier to Tarifa, crossing the Strait of Gibraltar into Spain. The crossing links the two halves of the journey, from the Morocco you have just visited to the cities of Al-Andalus ahead.

You board as foot passengers. Each traveller carries their own bag when boarding, during the crossing and when disembarking. No porter or additional team member can board to carry luggage for your family.

Our Spain team waits at the port exit in Tarifa. From there, private transport takes us to Seville for a first walk in the city. The standard journey has a guide handover between the two countries; a single guide across both is a VIP option, subject to availability and confirmed at booking.

Overnight: Seville

A full day in Seville, the Ishbiliya of Al-Andalus. We visit the Royal Alcazar, the royal palace of Seville since the days of Al-Andalus, and see the Giralda, once the minaret of the city's great mosque. Plaza de Espana completes the day.

Your guide connects the places as we go, with prayer planned into the route. In the late afternoon we drive to Cordoba, so tomorrow begins in the former Umayyad capital.

Overnight: Cordoba

An official guide joins us at the Great Mosque of Cordoba. We continue through the old Jewish and Arab quarters around it, then pray at the Mezquita de los Andaluces, a few minutes' walk away.

We also visit Madinat al-Zahra, the palace city Abd al-Rahman III built outside Cordoba. The mosque and the palace city give your family two parts of the Umayyad story in one day.

In the late afternoon we continue to Granada. We stay for three nights, with separate days for the Alhambra and the Alpujarra.

Overnight: Granada

The day this journey is built around. Your Muslim guide and an official Alhambra guide take your family through the Nasrid palaces and the Generalife gardens, with the story shaped around your children's ages and your family's interests.

In Fes, you visited Boabdil's tomb. Here, you walk through the palace of Granada's last king, connecting the Moroccan and Andalusian parts of the journey.

The afternoon is free to rest. At sunset we walk up to the Albaicin to watch the Alhambra turn gold from San Nicolas, then pray Maghrib at the Main Mosque of Granada, a few steps away.

Overnight: Granada

We head into the Alpujarra, the mountains where the Muslims of Granada held out longest. We stop above Lanjaron, where the story of their resistance begins, and visit the white village of Pampaneira before continuing to Orgiva.

Here, the journey meets the Muslim community living in the Alpujarra today. Brother Ubaida's family hosts lunch at Jaima Los Llanos, giving your family time at the table with people who make their home here.

After the palaces and historic cities, this is a day for the mountains and their living community. We return to Granada by evening for our third night in the city.

Overnight: Granada

We leave Granada and travel north to Toledo, the Tulaytulah of Al-Andalus. On the way to Madrid, we stop to walk through the old town and visit the Cristo de la Luz, a small mosque built more than a thousand years ago.

It is a historic monument today; prayer is arranged separately. This final heritage stop brings another part of the Andalusian story into your family's journey before we continue to Madrid for the night.

Overnight: Madrid

Day 12 :
Departure

After breakfast we take your family to Madrid airport for the flight home. Your journey has brought you from Casablanca through northern Morocco and across the Strait to Al-Andalus.

Ma'a salama, and we hope to welcome your family again, Insha Allah.
